Fire Prevention

The personnel at the Russellville City Fire Department provide fire prevention training and safety to the general public. Personnel utilize different programs for various age groups. Programs are conducted at local schools, civic groups, and businesses upon request. Firefighters instruct in many programs including fire safety, fire extinguishers, and First Aid & CPR.

Firefighters also conduct pre-planning of all business located within the city limits. The purpose of pre-planning is to enhance firefighter’s knowledge of local businesses in the event of a fire. Layouts of the buildings are then made available to on duty crews as well as pertinent information about the business. This program also provides business owners the opportunity to discuss fire related issues with firefighters. During pre-planning firefighters often make suggestions on fire safety and regulations to the occupant; however, firefighters do not conduct inspections as this is done through Kentucky Fire Marshall’s Office.
